“My son has found participating in the 3 On 3 hockey games very beneficial to his overall skill development and confidence. The unique set up of the 3 On 3, in a small area of the ice, allows for players to have multiple touches of the puck, while continually passing and communicating with other players, as well as having fun”!

Personally I think 3 on 3 is lots of fun for the kids, they learn how to pass the puck and how to play the game. They also learn how to play as a team specially having you on the ice telling them what to do, when to pass and how to play in the small areas. In my opinion the last few months Arvega learned a lot.

“We find the 3-on-3 small area games to be a very effective way to increase hockey IQ. My son was a reluctant passer when he started these sessions, but he quickly learned you cannot play in small areas unless you share the puck. Now, his first instinct is to look for open players. He’s also carried that habit into his regular SCAHA games. We’re very pleased with what 3 on 3 has brought to his overall play.”

“What I like about watching James Gasseau’s 3 on 3 is that he is personally teaching hockey sense. He is ON THE ICE skating next to the kids as they play with a voice in each child’s ear with simple fundamental commands:
“Pass the puck, skate, drive hard to the net, look for the open man, look for the back door play, create some time and space, pick up a man, pick up a stick in front, back check, pick it up, talk to each other, etc…and he has a two-pass rule before any shots can be taken to eliminate cherry picking and selfish play!!!”
Since my son has participated in these small ice 3 on 3s as a goaltender over the last few months, he is much better at reading the play, understanding the flow of the game and from where players with possible shooting opportunities will arise. His communication, angles, anticipation, movement, instinct, reaction and hard work ethic seem to have all picked up. His ice awareness is much better. As James’ kids work the puck around, so must my son track its progress, moving as fast as possible to be in position for a shot. And the bottom line is, he is having fun and making new friends and is excited to play each week!!!
He cannot wait for James Gasseau’s new league to start.”

“The 3 on 3 small area games that James Gasseau conducts on a weekly basis out of Lakewood is a phenomenal and integral concept in the skill development of young hockey players that should be followed by all coaches and parents that want to see vast improvement and overall understanding of the game of hockey. The 3 on 3 games allow the players to handle the puck more frequently and be much more involved in the game action which they quite often do not obtain during normal 5 on 5 full ice games and during more structured practices that focus on systems, plays, etc., which does not allow for individual skill development. The kids get to carry, shoot and pass the puck on a consistent and often basis which in turn helps them build confidence in their own set of skills. Additionally, it is a terrific tool for building team chemistry within a specific line or set of players. Through repetition, the kids become accustomed to playing with each other and recognizing the tendencies of their teammates. They learn to move the puck to each other at a young age which leads to successful, unselfish hockey. Due to the small area in which they play, it also forces the players to create their own space in order to receive a pass or get a rebound which teaches team correct positioning versus bunching up as many players will do throughout the course of a game. My son, Ean, has vastly developed and improved, both his team and individual skills, with the 3 on 3 games. Most importantly, he loves to attend these sessions as they are always FUN and more exciting for him to participate. If you want the most improvement and development for your young hockey player, I highly recommend you invest your time in these 3 on 3 small area games.”
